Songea District Education Officer (Primary) in Ruvuma Region, Richard Mtoni has called upon the head teachers in the district to discipline teachers leaving the place work without permission hence retardation of education development in the district. The district education officer, who was also the chairman of meeting made the remarks on Monday at the education stakeholders’ consultative meeting held at Mapinduzi Primary School at Peramiho in Songea District, Ruvuma Region. He noted that there is tendency of teachers in some primary schools who are sneaking away from work to go and do their personal business in town without the consent of their head teachers. “This is illegal to go out of place of work when you supposed to teach pupils. From now onwards I command all head teachers from various primary schools to make sure that they keep discipline in their schools by not letting teachers go out with getting permission.
