He told this newspaper that all electoral materials including the ballot papers have already arrived in all electoral constituencies of Iringa Region ready for the balloting.

Ndunguru who is also Assistance Regional Administrative Secretary (Administration) said that National Electoral Commission (NEC) has done fantastic job, whereby it has managed to bring electoral materials on time.

“We have already received all the necessary electoral materials as earlier as possible in our region from NEC and all the names of electorates have already been pasted on the various polling stations and also the exercise of checking their names by voters is going on smoothly but if anything will happen I will be informed by my returning officers and their assistants,” the REC noted.

Iringa Region had targeted to register a total of 930,271 voters in the permanent voter register earlier this year but only 785,192 which is equivalent to 84 percent of the total number of people registered.

The REC also named the electoral constituencies as Iringa Urban, Isimani, Kalenga, Kilolo, Mufindi North, Mufindi South, Njombe North, Njombe West, Njombe North, Makete and Ludewa.

He noted that Isimani Constituency is among the lowest number of people registered in the permanent register, and Kilolo Constituency has recorded the highest number eligible voters respectively in the region.

According to REC, there is no any political violence that has been reported in the region although there some few misunderstandings between the political parties which were normal and could not bring about political unrest.
