KALEMBO HAILS THE MEDIA BUT............

TANGA Regional Commissioner Said Kalembo has hailed the media for the job well done during the just ended Sunday General Election 2010 although there were some mistakes here and there.

The regional commissioner made the remarks on Friday during a one-day programme for print media stakeholders’ consultative workshop held in Tanga city council.

He said that journalists and other media stakeholders did the good job by making the general public knowing what was happening in different parts of the country during the election process.

However, the regional commissioner pointed an accusing finger to the media owners and editors for not facilitating their journalists in terms of providing transport but instead they let them journalists asking for transport favours from the RCs which will make them write news stories bent to the sources who have provided them with money and other things.

The media owners were urged to provide in-service training to their journalist so they can become more competent than ever hence perfection and maintaining professionalism.

“The leadership of the media owners and editors should make sure they give and provide incentives to their journalists instead of letting the journalists going to government leaders and ask for transport favours because they will write for it interest of the sources,” he said.

He said media owners should make sure that they look after their journalists in the upcountry because the good leadership is that that respect their workers.

MUCE IMPLEMENTS SH18.6 BILLION PROJECT IN HONOUR OF FATHER OF THE NATION’S VISION
