He pointed out that agriculture and agro-processing are facing some challeges like high prices of inputs-fertilizers, pesticides, seeds and lack of capital investing in agriculture and agro-processing industries - no justifiable returns for loans.

The director said despite their modest successes in dairy processing, the dairy business environment continues to be hostile for operations in a number of ways; the government is yet to invest sufficiently in dairy industry, the system of taxation in the country especially agro-processing-taxation is still repressive and not business friendly.

About the Development Partners Group: Since formally established in 2004 the Development Partners Group (DPG) has been working with the Government of Tanzania and other domestic stakeholders to strengthen development partnership and effectiveness of development cooperation. DPG comprises 17 bilateral and 5 multilateral (UN counted as one) development agencies providing assistance to Tanzania.

The approach to aid management in Tanzania is guided by the Joint Assistance Strategy (JAST) and takes into account the international principles of aid effectiveness. The main focus of JAST is to promote national ownership and government leadership in development cooperation through joint actions that seeks to enhance the impact of development effectiveness.

By moving beyond information-sharing towards actively seeking harmonization and alignment of aid systems and priorities, the Development Partners (DPs) are aiming at increasing the effectiveness of development assistance in support of the Government of Tanzania’s national goals and systems.

Through JAST, Development Partners hope to work with Government of Tanzania fulfill its objective of achieving sustainable development goals laid out in the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (MKUKUTAII/MKUZAII), the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and other national policies and strategies.

Four Armed Robbery Suspects Killed In Shootout With Police In Songwe

MUCE IMPLEMENTS SH18.6 BILLION PROJECT IN HONOUR OF FATHER OF THE NATION’S VISION

As Tanzania marks 26 years since the passing of the Father of the Nation, Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere — a passionate advocate for education — Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), a constituent college of the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), continues to successfully implement the Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) Project worth over Sh18.6 billion.
