CAMFED HELPS PAVE THE WAY FOR GIRLS TO START THEIR PROJECTS




The chairman of the Kilolo District Committee, Stephen Mrosso said the organization has helped CAMFED girls, a total of 19 groups registered by the council.


He said that such groups include chicken breeding, tailoring and clothe materials shop, agricultural input, pig farming, grain shop and goat breeding.


Mrosso explained that the CAMA groups that have been given various items worth 63,840,000/- to 1520 members of the Kilolo district.


In turn, the CAMA Chairlady in the Kilolo district, Veronica Kikula, thanked Camfed's organization for funding the establishment, development and expansion of economic activities.




Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) Tanzania, is a non-governmental organization established in 2005 with a view to helping vulnerable girls in order to be able to get rid of education in the course of primary education at the university.


CAMA, the alumnae association for Camfed graduates, is the largest network of its kind in Africa - and spurring remarkable change as young women from rural communities use their education to benefit others, and work to break the cycle of poverty for good.


The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) helps pave the way for girls to support themselves after they finish school by setting up and growing their own rural businesses, hence economic empowerment.


The girls who were once received scholarships from CAMFED Tanzania in Kilolo and Iringa district councils, Iringa Region have been asked to develop various economic projects to achieve the expected goals.


Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) in those districts; has provided items to the total of 36 CAMA groups who sponsored by the Organization from 2013 to 2017, in the Iringa and Kilolo respectively, with different capital investments.


On different occusions, the organization has helped these CAMFED young women groups known as Camfed Members Association (CAMA) with different resources in order for them to establishing, developing and expanding economic activities.


Iringa District Programme Coordinator Marcus Nyagawa said that a total of 17 groups were registered in the council for various economic activities such as poultry, stationery and tailoring, restaurant, selling beauty cosmetics, buying rice and putting warehouses and ice cream.


He said that these groups were entrusted with capitals worth 63,840,000/- in the Iringa District to the Camfed Members Association (CAMA).


Nyagawa requested council specialists, CAMFED District Committee, village executives, ward executives and CAMFED ward coordinators to oversee the projects so that the girls reach their goals.


On her part, Deputy Chairperson for Iringa District Council Ritta Mlagalla, who was also a guest of honour, congratulated CAMFED for the support of girls and added that the projects would introduce small industries, thus increasing the speed of government in the establishment of industries.






She said the industrial units would also contribute to increasing revenue collection in the council, hence expansion of tax base.
