OVER 500 PARTICIPANTS EXPECTED AT NATIONAL EDUCATION SYMPOSIUM IN IRINGA

 




 
Iringa. More than 500 participants from various sectors — including education, government, the private sector, religious institutions, NGOs, small, medium, and large-scale entrepreneurs, as well as media houses — are expected to attend a major national academic symposium to be held in Iringa.

Speaking to journalists today, October 7, 2025, the Secretary of the Organising Committee, Mauna Chuma Belius, who also serves as the Head of Communications at Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU), said the event has been organised jointly by RUCU and the Public–Private Partnership Centre (PPPC), on behalf of the university’s Vice Chancellor.

 

He said the symposium will take place on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the RUCU Main Hall, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., under the theme:
“The National Development Vision 2050 and Inclusive Economy: Where We Are and Where We Are Going.”

 

“The keynote speakers will include Sir Prof. Christine Lekule – Vice Chancellor of RUCU, Prof. Mussa Assad – Vice Chancellor of the Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM), Prof. Hu

Panel discussants will feature Dr Isidor Minai (Lecturer, RUCU), Dr Mwajuma Hamza – Executive Director of the Tanzania Women Chamber of Commerce (TWCC), and Prof. Samuel Wangwe – Chairperson of Daima Association. The symposium will be moderated by veteran journalist Tido Mhando, renowned for his vast local and international experience.

Belius added that other participants will come from both public and private institutions, including universities, colleges, government agencies, NGOs, faith-based organisations, financial institutions, and more than 100 business stakeholders.

 

“As a higher learning institution, Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU) continues to fulfil its three core academic functions — teaching, research, and community service (consultancy and outreach). Through this symposium, RUCU welcomes participants to a hub of knowledge, innovation, and community solidarity,” Belius said.

 

Meanwhile, the organising committee has called on all development stakeholders — including educational institutions, government bodies, private sector representatives, religious organisations, NGOs, the media, and the public — to actively participate in the event, which will be officiated by the Iringa Regional Commissioner,  Kheri James, as the Guest of Honour.
